Vai Florencio Acedo

Celebrating the Life of Vai F. Acedo, born on October 5, 1933 in American Samoa. She was the 1st of 12 children. She retired from housekeeping at the Outrigger Hotels. After retirement, she moved back to American Samoa with her husband Florencio and her youngest daughter. She attended New Hope prior to entering Pearl City Nursing home in 2014. Her favorite quote was, "You think you funny, ah!" The most important events in her life were the births of each of her 5 grandchildren, whom she loved dearly. She is described as a strong disciplinarian in love, generous, and selfless. In her younger years, she enjoyed softball, volleyball, sewing and crocheting. Vai sacrificed her education to help her parents raise her siblings. She moved to Hawaii in her teens, got married, and slowly brought her siblings to Hawaii. She and her husband supported them through school until they moved away to attend colleges on the mainland. She is survived by son, Stanley (Mary-Ann) Acedo; daughters, Milla (Mark) Acedo-Servito and Tetele Acedo; grandchildren, Ashley, Amber, Deshawnalynn, Deshawn and Letisha; brothers, Taafili (Judy), Tuputala and Ausage; sisters, Latea, Talai, Poulalo, Aigalesala and Ulualo; many nieces, nephews and cousins. Visitation will be at 5:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 5, 2016, at the Red Hill First Assembly of God Church, 3400 Moanalua Road, Honolulu, Hawaii; service will begin at 6:00 p.m. Graveside service will be at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, April 6, 2016, at Valley of the Temples Memorial Park. Family requests no fa'a Samoa. Interment Location: Holy Cross #4, Lot 637, A-2
