Celebrating the Beautiful Life of Alice Kinue Shishido
June 24th, 1940 – April 6th, 2026
We celebrate a life marked by kindness, generosity, and tireless effort. Alice Kinue Shishido filled her days with purpose and heart, leaving bright memories for everyone who knew her.
Born in Wailuku, Maui on June 24th, 1940, Alice grew up surrounded by island warmth and community spirit. Those early roots helped shape the kind, generous, and hardworking traits that guided her every step.
Alice alongside her husband, Garnett together owned and operated Shishido Manju Shop. They took over the business in 1946 until the passing of her husband in 2010. Alice continued the family business, a role that showcased her strong work ethic and commitment to sharing good things with others—values she held close throughout her life. Shishido Manju Shop is known for their ono baked goods and is home to the original peanut butter mochi.
Family meant everything to her. She found constant joy in her son, Elton Shishido, and shared countless moments of support and laughter with her sister, Janette Fukunaga.
Alice passed away in Honolulu, Hawaii on April 6th, 2026, but her spirit of giving and diligent care lives on in each person she touched. Today we remember her with smiles, honoring a legacy that keeps inspiring acts of kindness and hard work in our own lives.
Alice will return to her beloved Maui soon and inurned at Maui Memorial Park.
