Annie Meyer Lum's Obituary
A Life Shared Around the Table
February 2nd, 1926 - December 2nd, 2025
Those of us who loved Annie Meyer Lum will always picture her in the kitchen first, a pot already simmering before we even knocked. She believed a warm meal was the simplest way to say, “You belong here,” and she practiced that welcome every single day.
Born in Waipunalei, Hawaii, Annie carried island steadiness wherever she went. She earned her business degree from Cannon School of Business in 1944, showing the same drive that later guided every choice she made.
Annie married Richard Lum, and together they built a home that stayed open to family and friends. Richard passed before her, yet his memory remained present in each family gathering Annie hosted.
Cooking and outdoor activities were Annie’s favorite ways to unwind, and she tended her vegetable garden with the same care she gave to people. If you stopped by, fresh produce and a full plate appeared without fuss, proof of her generous, compassionate, hardworking, intelligent, and supportive nature.
Her Catholic faith framed her days, offering quiet purpose and steady hope. She trusted God in the small acts—serving food, sharing stories, and keeping everyone close.
Annie is survived by her sister Mary Meyer and her nephew Kevin Meyer. She is reunited in peace with her husband Richard Lum; brothers David, Herbert, Edward, and Herman Meyer; and sisters Josephine M. Nachor, Dorothy M. Lanza, Ruby M. DeMello, and Agnes M. Carvalho.
We will keep gathering just as she taught us, passing dishes around the table and remembering Annie’s simple rule: no one leaves hungry, and no one leaves unseen.
