Bernice Wai Lan Montayre's Obituary
Bernice Wai Lan Montayre, 71, of Honolulu, Hawaii, passed away on Tuesday, May 1, 2018 in Honolulu. She was born on July 31, 1946 in Honolulu, Hawaii. She was born and raised in Honolulu. She is the daughter or Hook and Kam York Chun. She attended St Francis School and went on to marry Louis Montayre, Jr who she was happily married to for the last 50 years. She had 3 children, Chris, Tyrone, and Dina; along with 5 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild. She was a mother and wife above all thing but also worked for Pearl Harbor in an Administrative capacity. She was an active traveler, volunteer worker, and belonged to various groups including a hiking club, majong club, and The Red Hat Society. Bernice was truly on of the “good ones” and will forever be remembered and missed.
She is survived by her beloved husband, Louis Montaryre, Jr; 2 sons, Chris (Lani) Montayre and Tyron Montayre; daughter, Dina (Brandon) Oshiro; 5 grandchildren, Ethan, Zachery, Isaac, Jaimie, and Ashley; 1 great-grandchild, Greyson Montayre; and 2 brothers, Lawrence (Dianna) Chun and Lester (Suzie) Chun.
Memorial services for Bernice will be held on Friday, June 08, 2018 at St Jude’s Catholic Church in Makakilo. Visitation to begin at 9:30 am. Mass to start at 10:30 am. Lunch reception to follow service. Burial to follow at Valley of the Temples starting at 2:00 pm.
