Familia, Carmen Yvette's Obituary
Carmen Yvette Familia, born on December 31, 1969, in the Bronx, New York, passed away peacefully on March 2, 2026, in Honolulu, Hawaii. She was the beloved daughter of Rafael Medina and Alejandrina Trujillo, and a cherished light in the lives of all who knew her.
Carmen dedicated her life to serving others as a nurse, a calling that reflected her compassion, her gentleness, and her God-filled heart. Whether at work, in her church, or among family and friends, she uplifted those around her with grace and kindness.
Those fortunate enough to have known Carmen will forever remember her joyful, bubbly personality. Her warm smile could light up any room, and her laughter—genuine, vibrant, and full of life—brought comfort and joy to all in her presence. She carried an energy that made everyone feel welcomed, valued, and loved. Wherever Carmen went, joy followed.
Above all, Carmen’s life was defined by her deep and unwavering faith in God. She lived her faith daily—not through words alone, but through her actions. Carmen reflected Christ in her patience, her compassion, her generosity, and her ability to forgive and love unconditionally. She always had a scripture to share, a prayer to offer, or a word of encouragement ready for anyone in need.
She helped countless people, often quietly and without recognition. She listened without judgment, gave without hesitation, and loved without limits. In times of sorrow, she brought comfort. In times of doubt, she brought hope. In times of hardship, she brought faith.
Carmen leaves behind a powerful legacy—one of faith, joy, love, and light. She strengthened her family by example, enriched her church through humble service, and blessed her community with unwavering loyalty and care. She planted seeds of hope in every heart she touched, and those seeds will continue to grow for generations.
Carmen is survived by her loving husband, Gerardo Familia; her four beloved children, Efrain Familia, Kimberly Familia, Zamarie Familia, and Amariz Familia; and her dear siblings, Crystal Santiago, Minerva Rodriguez, and Rafael Medina Jr. She is also survived by extended family, friends, and all those whose lives were forever changed by her presence.
Though we mourn her absence deeply, we take comfort in knowing that her spirit, her faith, and her love will continue to shine brightly in each of us.
