Dustin Burnett's Obituary
In Loving Memory of Dustin Burnett
October 5, 1983 – June 29, 2025
Dustin Burnett, age 41, passed away peacefully on June 29, 2025, in Waipahu, Hawaii, a place he came to love and call home.
Born in Greenback, Tennessee, Dustin carried with him the soul of the Great Smoky Mountains wherever he went. Dustin was a lifelong, die-hard fan of the Tennessee Volunteers—he was all VOL—as he proudly would state. Whether he was in the South or thousands of miles away in Hawaii, his loyalty to his team never wavered.
He had a sharp wit and a quick sense of humor, always ready with a joke or the perfect comment to lighten the moment. He brought laughter with ease, but it was his genuine heart that left a lasting mark. Dustin was the most sincere, selfless person—always putting others before himself, always showing up when it mattered most. His kindness, warmth, and loyalty defined him.
Dustin will be lovingly remembered by his fiancé, Mikiala Malabon; his beloved children, Bodhi Burnett, Memphis Burnette, Cruz Burnette, and Montgomery Burnette; his brother, Kevin Collins; and his sister, Amy Burnette-Robinson. He was a dedicated father, a devoted partner, a loving brother, and a true adventurer at heart.
To know Dustin was to experience a rare and generous spirit. His journey through life was rich with purpose, and his legacy lives on in the lives he touched.
A Celebration of Life will be held in two locations to honor Dustin’s memory:
Hawaii – Saturday, August 9, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the Fairway Village at Waikele Recreation Center, Waipahu, HI
Tennessee – October 2025. Details to be announced at a later date
