Elmer Mew Fa Liu, 93, passed away peacefully in Aiea. Born and raised in Heeia on Oahu, Elmer’s life was marked by dedication, service, and an abiding connection to his home. Hawaii shaped his spirit, and he carried its values of humility, respect, and aloha throughout his life.
Elmer enlisted in the United States Army twice and served during the Korean War. He retired from the FCC after 44 years of dedicated government service. He was a loyal member of the Bow Yee Tong Club of Kaneohe. A talented landscaper and gardener, he generously shared the sweet bulook/jabons he grew with many. He was also a skilled and avid outdoorsman who delighted family and friends with entertaining stories from his adventures. A devoted fitness enthusiast, he inspired young men in bodybuilding at the gym. A devoted and good husband of 70 years, Elmer was a patient and fun-loving father.
His family takes comfort in knowing he lived fully, loved deeply, and went to rest in his hometown on the Windward side of Oahu that meant so much to him. Private services.
