In loving Memory of Felipa “Nana Ipa” Rivera Galla
Felipa Rivera Galla aged ninety (90), of Aiea, Hawaii, passed away peacefully on January 16, 2026, at Maluhia Hospital surrounded by loved ones. Born on May 21, 1935, in Bacarra, Ilocos Norte, Philippines, “Nana Ipa” lived a life filled with sacrifices, kindness, laughter, and generosity. She was the sixth (6) of seven children of Damiano and Micaela V. Rivera.
During World War II, she was forced to stop going to school and married young to start a family. In 1976, Tata and Nana migrated from the Philippines to Hawaii to join oldest daughter Pacita. A year later, son Peter and daughter Linda followed.
She used to work part time as a custodian at Aloha Stadium and retired in the year 2000. She also loves to babysit her grandchildren, great grandchildren, relatives’ children and nephews way back in the Philippines. She was a devoted Catholic and used to walk from Halawa Estates Housing by Aloha Stadium to St. Elizabeth Catholic Church.
She preceded in death by husband Pedro, daughter Linda, son Roel, great grandchild Liam Alexander, sisters Maxima, Teodora and Guadalupe, and brothers Liborio and Felicissimo.
Before Nana was admitted to Maluhia Hospital in March of 2024, daughter Pacita and son Peter used to take turns taking care of her. Due to old age and deteriorating conditions, she finally succumbed to the Lord on January 16, 2026. Rest in Peace Nana, we loved you and till we meet again.
