Henry Edward Nelson's Obituary
Henry Edward “Hank” Nelson, 92 passed away on April 12 surrounded by family and friends. He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Pearl, his daughter Sandy Hanley, his grandson Christopher Delaunay and his wife Katrina, plus his great-grandson, Finn. He was preceded in death by his son, Brian.
Born in Honolulu, he attended McKinley High School and then became a mechanic for Hawaiian Electric. An Army veteran of WWII, Hank served in the campaign to liberate the Philippines. Returning to Honolulu after the war, he moved his family to Kailua and resumed his career at Hawaiian Electric until his retirement. He and his wife were avid golfers and were well-known on local courses. Also known as “Mr.Fixit,” Hank was always ready to lend a hand or a wrench to his friends and neighbors.
