I am so late in posting any memories of Jim and I have so many. He was my first friend when I moved to USA from Canada. We worked together at the Air Force Intensive Language Training Center on the Indiana University campus. He helped me learn two romanizations for the Chinese language. We lived in campus housing and laughed our way through 'poor student days'. Sometimes Jim would come to work wearing his 'scholarship shoes' if he had an interview for money...they had a hole in the sole.Quick with a smile and always soft spoken, Jim was one of a kind. My husband and I returned to Canada for two years and then came back to IU and renewed friendship with Jim. Again the four of us spent a lot of time together making memories this time with little Marcy too.
They visited us in Canada and we, much later, visited them in Honolulu. Tony and our daughter Alyssa were the same age.
Correspondence, though infrequent, managed to keep us in touch over the years. When my ex husband passed away I tried to let Jim know only to have Wei-ling let me know that dear Jim had passed five days after Colin.
My deepest sympathy to Wei-ling, Marcy and Tony and their families.
