Joanne Oanh Phan's Obituary
In loving memory of Joanne Oanh Phan, who passed away on August 2nd, 2024, at the age of 94. Joanne (Phan Hoang Oanh) was born on May 10th, 1930 in Vietnam. She started boarding school at early age, taught by the sisters of Saint Vincent de Paul, and embraced the Catholic faith. Joanne was selfless in her service to others, always giving freely and loving readily. She studied the art of nursing, and practiced as a midwife for thirty years, prior to immigrating to America in 1983. After her eldest daughter joined the military service, Joanne travelled the world with her. She cooked amazing Vietnamese cuisines. She enjoyed caring for her grandchildren and pets as they had brought immense joy to her life.
Joanne is survived by her two daughters Vickie O’Shea and Bernice Doan, sons in law Timothy O’Shea and John Doan, along with 5 grandchildren Abby, Cody, Emma, Ryan, and Sarah. Joanne left behind a lasting legacy of love, caring, and devotion. In honoring Joanne’s memory, we treasure the moments shared, the stories told, and the love woven into every corner of her life, enhanced by her great sense of humor, sweet smiles, and joyful spirit. Her urn will be placed at the beautiful Valley of the Temples Memorial Park.
