Joyce Wai Ying Lum's Obituary
Joyce Wai Ying Lum, born on December 26, 1938 in Canton, China, passed away peacefully on June 3, 2014 at Palolo Chinese Home in Honolulu, Hawaii. She was 75. A loving mother and grandmother, she is survived by husband of 50 years, George; two sons, Peter and wife Annie of Honolulu, and Jimmy and wife Michelle of Mililani, daughter Judy and husband Jimmy of Honolulu; two sisters, Yin Wah Liu Chiang and Fern Liu Nip of Toronto, and brother Jason Liu of Vancouver; and four grandchildren, Justin, Austin, Jalen and Cody.
Joyce moved to Hawaii from Hong Kong in 1984. She was a fabulous homemaker and gardener, a pet lover and exceptional cook. She was a member of the Hawaii Chinese Baptist Church, actively participating in Sunday School and worship service until she became ill. She had a way to make you feel welcome into her home. Her warm, humble and positive persona will be greatly missed.
The visitation is from 10:30 AM to 11:00 AM on Wednesday, June 25, 2014 at the Valley of the Temples Chapel. Memorial Service will follow at 11:00 AM. Reverend Andrew Tong will be officiating. The burial will be at the Alii View, Valley of the Temples Cemetery at 2 PM. Lunch will be served at 12:00 PM
