Leo was born on September 29, 1938, in Honolulu, Hawaii, to Tuck and Margaret Young. Raised in the islands he would call home throughout his life, Leo developed a deep appreciation for community, integrity, and justice—values that would guide him both personally and professionally.
Leo devoted his career to the people of Hawaii as a lawyer for the State of Hawaii. Known for his diligence, fairness, and unwavering commitment to the law, he earned the respect of colleagues and those he served. His work reflected his belief in upholding justice with compassion and responsibility.
Above all, Leo cherished his family. He is survived by his loving wife, Vivian Takano, who was his steadfast partner through life’s many chapters. He was a proud and devoted father to his daughters: Melia Young, Liana Young, and Danielle Young. His greatest joy extended to his three grandchildren, who brought him immense pride and happiness.
Leo will be remembered for his quiet strength, thoughtful wisdom, and enduring love for his family. His legacy lives on in the lives he touched, both through his professional service and his role as a husband, father, and grandfather.
