Lolita Fernandez Iglesia's Obituary
Celebrating the Life of Lolita "Loling" "Lo" Fernandez Iglesia, 72, of Honolulu, Hawaii, passed away in Honolulu on July 12, 2014. She was born in Barangay Pugaoan, Pinili, Ilocos Norte, Philippines on January 7, 1942 and was one of four children born to Alfredo Fernandez, Sr. and Pacita Salvante. She attended Pugaoan Elementary School. She lived in Manila and Honolulu.
She was married to Basilio Abucay Iglesia on June 2, 1959.
She was a retired housekeeper at one of the hotels for the Aston Hotels chain in Waikiki; she retired in 2004 after working for 14 years. She was a member of New Creations In Christ Fellowship in Kaneohe. The most important events in her life were coming to and bringing her family over to Hawaii and receiving an award for the "cleanest room." She enjoyed going shopping at Ala Moana Shopping Center with her friends, Lucrecia Valdez or Marcia. Lucrecia Valdez and Lydia Marquez Caparra were amongst her special friends.
She is survived by husband, Basilio Abucay Iglesia; son, Edwin (Rubie) Iglesia; daughters, Evelyn I. Palas, Jocelyn (Rodolfo) Luna and Marivic Iglesia (Ray Abad); 13 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren; brothers, Alfredo Fernandez, Jr., Patricio Fernandez, Ben Fernandez and Carlito Fernandez; sisters, Vicenta Largo, Norma Fernandez, Estrella Tadioan, Macrina Retuta and Editha Reyes.
Visitation to her evening service will be held 5:30-9:00 p.m., Friday, August 15, 2014 at Hawaiian Memorial Park Mortuary; with service to begin at 6:30 p.m. Additional visitation for her funeral service also to be held at Hawaiian Memorial Park Mortuary from 10:00 a.m. - 12:30 p.m., Saturday, August 16, 2014; service to begin at 10:30 a.m., with burial to follow 1:30 p.m. at Valley of The Temples Memorial Park.
