Marianito Ramos Gonzales' Obituary
Marianito Ramos Gonzales, 76, of Iba Zambales, Philippines passed away on October 9, 2018 at Tripler Army Medical Center in Honolulu. Marianito was born on February 8, 1942 in Amungan, Iba Zambales Philippines to Mariano Gonzales and Rizalina Ramos. He was the 6th of 6 children. Marianito attended Zambales National High School, Ramon Magsaysay School of Arts and Trades, and Far Eastern University in Manila Philippines. He completed 3 years of college while taking his bachelor’s in civil engineering.
Marianito served in the U.S. Navy from 1968 to 1988. He attained the rank of Petty Officer First Class and received the National Defense Service Medal, Meritorious Unit Commendation Medal, Fourth Good Conduct Award, Overseas Service Ribbon and Sea Service Ribbon. Marianito retired in 1988 after serving for 20 years in the U.S. Navy as an Electrician’s Mate First Class. After retirement, he returned to work as a Department of Defense civilian at the Guam Naval Shipyard. He lived in Virginia, Guam, Philippines and Hawaii. He was married to (1st wife) Necita Giron from 1969-1999 (Deceased). He remarried to (2nd wife) Imelda Abadam from 2001-2018.
Marianito was known as generous, friendly, funny, kind, loving, playful, strong, shared many life stories and always had a smile on his face. His hobbies and activities include bowling, softball, playing cards, watching boxing, American Ninja Warriors, game shows, planting, macrame, cooking, mahjong, traveling, singing, dancing, playing the guitar and spending time with the family. He loved listening to oldies music from the 1960’s and 1970’s.
He is survived by his wife Imelda Abadam; sons, Richard Gonzales and Irish Charles Gonzales; daughter, Anna Gonzales General; two sisters, Emily Gonzales Gavillan and Amor Gonzales Chiong; son-in-law, Erwin General; daughter-in-law, Priscilla Gonzales; and five grandchildren, Alyssa General, Justin General, Nathan Gonzales, Sophia Gonzales and Ethan Gonzales.
Wake services for Marianito will be held on Thursday, November 15, 2018, at Hawaiian Memorial Park Mortuary. Visitation will be from 5:30-9:00 p.m. Catholic Liturgy of the Word, eulogy and remembrances will begin at 6:30 p.m.
