Pi Sun Susan Carpenter's Obituary
Pi Sun Susan Carpenter was a beloved daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, teacher and friend. Born in Kaohsiung, Taiwan on September 23, 1936, she was the second youngest of seven children.
In the 1960s she came to the United States, residing first in Northern California, then eventually settling in Honolulu, Hawaii. She was a devoted mother to her two sons, Dan and John, and a doting grandmother to Kai, Sophie, Andrew, Ellie and Brandon.
Pi Sun touched the lives of hundreds of children and their families as a piano teacher. Combining two of her passions, music and teaching, she did what she loved for more than 40 years.
A devout Christian, she lived her life guided by her faith and Christ’s example. She also brought her gift of music into her worship, playing organ for Sunday services. She was a special person to many and was very much loved. And on top of that she was also a wonderful cook who could whip up some mean spring rolls!
This September marked her 85th year on this earth. On October 13, 2021, she passed away peacefully in Honolulu. She was a light in so many lives who will be warmly remembered and never forgotten.
