Refugio Luga Alcon's Obituary
Refugio Luga Alcon, 97, Of Waialua, Oahu, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 29, 2022. He was born in Sarrat, Ilocos Norte, Philippines and served as a guerilla fighter in the Philippines during WWII. Following the war, he came in search of better opportunities for his family and immigrated to Hawai'i as a Sakada, A Filipino contract laborer, who worked at the Waialua Sugar Plantation. After working nearly 40 years at the plantation, he later became a maintenance landscaper with Hawaii Landscape & Nursery, where he retired.
He is preceded by wife, Maria Alcon. Survived by his children; Josefina (Jessie) Guillermo, Wilfred (Erlinda) Alcon, and Encarnacion (Eric) Uyehara; granddaughters, Anne Estrada, Jessica Tuifagu and Jeremi Ganotisi; grandsons, Wilfred Alcon (Jr), Jordan Guillermo, Kyle Uyehara, Ryan Uyehara and Craig Uyehara; great grandson, Roman Estrada; great granddaughters, Leilani Estrada, Gwen Alcon, Winifred Alcon and Penelope Ganotisi.
A celebration of life will be helf on Wednesday, June 22, 2022 at Mililani Memorial Park and Mortuary, Mauka Chapel. Visitaion: 9:30am; Services: 10am. Lunch to follow. Burial at 2pm
