Russell J. Schley's Obituary
Russ was born on June 7, 1953 in Chicago, Illinois. At a young age his family moved to Hayward, California. Russ was a competitive and great athlete. He was an All-Star Running Back for Mt. Eden High School and Chabot College. After college he served in the United States Air Force. He enjoyed all types of sports - especially playing golf with his college buddies and friends. He also had a beautiful voice and enjoyed Karaoke. He loved singing and people loved to hear him sing. After years of searching, he finally found his soul mate – a Hawaii transplant to California. He loved the islands and enjoyed his many visits to the islands. They had a beautiful and wonderful life together. Russ passed away in Hayward on May 10, 2025. He will surely be missed by all that was lucky enough to be a part of his life and he theirs.
A memorial was held in California on June 6th and then flown to Hawaii for burial at Valley of the Temples on June 11th, back to Hawaii, the place he loved. He is survived by his wife Marilyn (Hunt) Schley, Brothers Bob (Elaine) Schley, David Schley and sister Jackie (Larry) Lancaster. Several nieces and nephews.
