First condolences to Andy and Joannʻs family. Joann and I were neighbors at the Moku Street apartments. Her presence there helped to create a supportive community amoungst the residents. Joann had a quiet calming personality, that contributed to all of us residents feeling safe knowing that we could go to her with questions and guidance. She rarely ever asked for anything for herself. She maintained this kind of dignity even with her illness as she courageously adjusted to her illness sharing about her condition when asked, without complaining. She provided me with insight and called me when I was recovering from surgery also related to cancer. Joann is a friend who I am very grateful to. She will always have a special place in my heart. Mahalo Joann, and aloha a hui hou. Aloha wau iā ʻoe. Kuʻumeaaloha
