I have many fond memories of my brother, Mario. My Mom was a free spirit and quite adventurous, and thanks to her job with Pan American Airlines, we grew up traveling together a lot.
One of my best memories was going to Germany to meet my mom‘s relatives. We were just young teens and Mario had that full head of dark curls and dressed like a Beatle, so all the teenage Europeans treated him like he was a rock star. It was the first time we saw snow and got to visit the Langenburg Castle where my mom spent her summers helping her uncle, the local duke’s village doctor.
It was magical for us to be doing this together, coming all the way from Hawaii a simple hippie family.
Mario is a rock star in my book, because no matter how hard life got, he was humble, kind, and always took time to be interested in people and have good conversation. He was a good person, not perfect, but good.
I thank God for the gift of my brother, Mario. I love you and I miss you already! 🥲💕🙏🏽🌺
